The short version

Fish That Fit runs entirely in your browser. The calculations happen on your device, and the values you enter are never transmitted to or stored on a server.

Analytics

We use privacy-respecting, aggregate analytics to understand which features are used and to fix problems. This collects anonymous usage events (such as page views), never the contents of your inputs.

Advertising & cookies

This site shows ads served by Google AdSense, which is how we keep the calculator free. Google and its partners use cookies to serve and measure ads, including cookies that tailor ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies is described in how Google uses information from sites that use its services.

You can opt out of personalised advertising at Google Ads Settings, or opt out of some third-party advertising cookies at www.aboutads.info. Depending on your region, you may also see a consent prompt that lets you choose between personalised and non-personalised ads.

Cookies & local storage

Apart from the advertising cookies described above, we don’t set tracking cookies ourselves. Storage we use directly is limited to remembering your preferences (such as your US/metric unit choice) locally on your device.

Third parties

The site is hosted on Firebase Hosting (Google). Standard server logs may record requests for security and reliability. Fonts are served by Google Fonts. On your first visit the site makes a single anonymous request to a third-party IP geolocation service (api.country.is) to decide whether to default to US units or metric. We don’t store the result beyond remembering your unit preference locally.
